So we can tell whether the guide helps, it counts a few events: that it was opened, which steps were finished, and which onward link was clicked. Nothing used for this is stored in your browser. The events from one visit share a random ID that exists only while the page is open, and is gone when you reload or close it.
Our host, Vercel, sees it in order to serve the page and keeps it briefly in its request logs. Our own code never reads it, stores it, or passes it to our analytics.
They're saved in your browser only, so the guide remembers your progress and which instructions to show. Neither is sent anywhere. Clear the site's data and they're gone.
Turn on Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track in your browser and the guide sends nothing at all. This page sends nothing either way.

We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest in knowing whether the guide is useful. Hosting is by Vercel; analytics by PostHog, stored in Frankfurt. Both act only on our instructions, under data-processing agreements that include the EU's standard contractual clauses, as both are US companies. The data is deleted 12 months after publication. We may share aggregate numbers, never anything about an individual visit.
